THE AFRICAN PREDICAMENT

I slept with an eye
Dreaming the death of the future
My life thwarted at birth
And the birth of my children undreamt
The birth of my grand un-vision
Because the future was murdered
At the tender age of the sprouting grain
I existed not after birth
Because I was dead in my life
I never hunted, because there was no meat in the bush
And I never ate and died of hunger
For there was no food in my plate
My strives are always in vain
Lazy the world knows I'm not

IVORY COAST

The battle is not won
My brother to pieces is torn
By my hands I helped the john
To capture my mother's beloved son
Who was the brightest rays of the sun
I lost my dignity to the swine
My blood we drank as the wine
I was the saddest child in the dine

MY IDENTITY

I refuse to be labeled
I have an identity unknown
My name is to me known
But to the world I'm someone else
And yet I refuse to be labeled
I was born with a name not known
Ask me it's meaning
And I will berry my head in shame

The name has a meaning
But not of my tribe
A name that doesn’t give me Identity
Whose borrowed cloths am I wearing
With an identity foreign to my tribe
Religion in my creed
That defines who I am
But not who I really am

And yet I refused to be labeled
John is my name
And yet I am black
Jamal is my name
And yet I am black
I am not of my own kind
And I am not a foreigner
Who am I and what is my identity

THE ROYAL WEDDING

Blasted the royal horn
Ushered in the Duchess of Cambridge
With her tail of eight foot running along
Her smile blazing the screens of the world
The concerned and the unconcerned
Watching in their numbers on borrowed sets
Some twisting and turning their wrists
To see the colourful pictures on the web

The hungry child forgets his hunger
And runs to see the commoner take the royal vow
The beggar stroll to the side street to feed his eyes
To leave a mark on his memory
For his children unborn to be told
To be told the day when they stood for the change
A change the mother never succeeded
A change that must be for doom never repeated

MISSING PIECE

When I look at the moon
I see you with your dimples smiling
When I look at the Sun
I see your glittering beauty
Your startling radiance of love
When I sleep at night
I see you in my arms cuddled
And waking up is so painful
Look what distance can do
But can never separate the hearts
That yearns to meet the other half
It is the worst of grief
And calmest of hope
The bearer of grief

The GAME

The passage of time
Dons the nakedness of secrets prime
Giving life to the doubts that never wails
Marking the ascendancy of truth in trails
Canvassing for the renaissance of a broken home
Alas the truth shall prevail in the dome
And the sheep skin shall be torn off the wolf
That desires to eat all our flock

The captain must stand firm
To see the destination of his crew
In the wind storm that blows from within
Jealousy is surely an enemy
For the few who desires the good of all
Jealousy is surely a friend for the ambitious
Who will stand at nothing to get what she wants
The cause of a split in a broken home
